when I get a chance I can check the versions... but it's just a standard install of 64bit OpenSuSE 12.2 without any updates, so what ever gcc version that comes with is what I was using.

I just updated the linux flasher archive on my site with the newest wip. also I forgot and I guess you didn't see either
the source I used for the linux flasher is inside the archive, there is another archive inside with the source.

I'll try that source and 64-bit OpenSUSE 12.2 in a VM as soon as I can spare some time. (At the moment, I'm busy catching up backlogged TODOs)

it runs from command line, no gui for linux yet.

the linux flasher was tested on ubuntu and suse, suse being what i compiled it on.

Umm.. thats more for bios/uefi firmware updating.
suppose to be safer to update, is what i read about it????
umm... you can't really brick the 4play, and fwudp can't control if someone takes their finger off the update button.

seems a lot more work to do something that can already be done.

I sort of figure this myself without reading up on it. I knew you would be the right man for the job. I would have to agree then, its not viable for Bliss-Box.
