So the 4Play Blissbox has been fantastic! Running great with Launchbox/Retroarch on NES/SNES/PSX/PS2/Genesis - now I turn to configure Stepmania and am wondering if it is possible to use the Blissbox to drive one of the Red Octane Dance Pads.

I'm running Windows 10 - by default - the 4 Dance Pad direction arrows are being read as axis inputs, making it impossible to press Left-Right or Up-Down combinations at the same time (which is common in the dance game).

I've seen other adapters in the past get around this by treating the D-Pad inputs as Button Presses instead of Axis directions. Is there a way to configure the Blissbox to do this? I searched around a bit and haven't found anything specific to this yet - maybe I am missing something?

Thanks again for a great product!!

Sounds to me like the issue is that the Dance Pad is advertising it's self as a digital psx stick instead of Analog stick (and that makes sense). Thus the BB is setting the d-pad to the main stick because no other stick is available.

The simple fix here is to ID the dance pad and set it to map d-pad to buttons. To do this I'd need to get the ID that the dance pad is advertising. My lead Beta test happens to have this pad. I'll get with him about a possible fix.

A less simple and not as desired fix would be a button combo you could enter that dose this mapping in the Bliss-Box 4-Play. For obvious reasons it can not be the default setting, however in the 1.56 firmware you can save settings to ports, so you would have the option of it always default to that mode if you wish.

I'll report back after I received word from my Beta team.

After some research it looks like the DDR pad is sending as psx digital. It also looks like it may hold down certain buttons as start up. If so this will be easy to detect. More later.

!!! :D :D :D !!!
THANK YOU
!!! :D :D :D !!!

Flashed the firmware and was immediately up running Stepmania for hours today! This has brought hours of good fun (and exercise) to myself and family!

I'll be blabbing away about how quickly (4 days) the Blissbox development team addressed my feature request for years.

So happy this is working - love the product - thank you again! :)

Phew not sure what happened - no major configuration changes - actually had left the HDMI interface attached to the adapter for a week (unused) - went to boot up Stepmania and have a go - back to detecting the directional buttons on the pad as axis inputs.

Pulled up the Flash Tool and flashed the port with the latest firmware - still no luck. :\

What may be even worse - my thumb slipped during an attempt at a flash and now Windows 10 is only detecting 3 "4PLAY PORT" devices.

Oi - any ideas on steps forward?

yes. do the standard method of fixing a bad flash.

1. unplug usb from 4-play.
2. hold button to flash.
3. keep holding button plug in usb wire.
4. flash device.

key point is make sure you have the flash button held before plugging in usb till done with the flash. if you let go of the upgrade button before finished, start back over from usb unplugged.

the upgrade part of the 4-play never gets flashed so it not really possible to completly break it from flashing errors.

Perfect this did the trick - up and working again with the latest firmware and the 4th port has been recovered.

Back to 100% Thank you all again!
